Further Information

Cladding clips are used to fix interior cladding securely while keeping all visible faces free of screws or nails. The clips engage with the groove in the timber and are fixed to the battens holding each piece in position with a clean, uninterrupted finish.

This method gives the cladding a sharper, more refined appearance, while also helping to maintain even spacing and allowing for natural movement of the timber. Because the boards are not face-fixed, it allows the timber cladding to be reused or adjusted later with far less risk of damage.

ThermoAspen cladding clips can be installed using nails, screws or staples. Nailing is not recommended, as the hammer blows can inevitably damage or mark the edge of the ThermoAspen cladding during installation. The process is also slow and frustrating in practice, with the nails typically requiring final setting with a nail punch to avoid damaging the timber surface.

The recommended installation methods are either the supplied 2.5 × 20 mm full-thread screws used with the supplied PZ1 driver bit, or 140/10 mm staples installed using a 1013J type stapler. While both methods provide a secure fixing when correctly installed, the staple method is preferred because it is faster, neater, and avoids the risk of damage to the cladding during installation. The 1013J stapler format is specifically recommended because its nose profile allows accurate access to the fixing holes in the cladding clips, ensuring consistent positioning and secure fixing.

All clips should be installed square and evenly aligned to ensure correct board engagement and a clean, uniform sauna finish.
